Watching the World Cup Football Tournament

Probably my favorite thing about watching the World Cup Football (Soccer) tournament is the energy of the underdogs. Since there are only 32 teams actually participating in this invitational, there really are not any underdogs per se. However, with a handful of favorites, the chances of the smaller countries to actually pull out more than a couple of wins is remote.
This doesn’t detract from the excitement and jubilation when watching these matches. The picture is so much clearer when viewing on through satellite tv providers, especially when equipped with the new high definition feature. No, watching one of the lesser squads with their unbounded exuberance, is what makes viewing this spectacular event worthwhile. The looks on the faces of a favorite, when they are in serious danger of losing to an opponent deemed mediocore, is truly priceless. There is confusion, consternation and doubt on one side of the pitch, with glee, smiles and bouncing on the other. Even the fans get into the spirit of the game, particularly the ones with no rooting interest. These non partisans actually start cheering for the underdog, believing that an upset is more entertaining than seeing a favorite cream a lesser foe.
World Cup football is the best players playing for their home country. In the case of the smaller ones, it is their one chance to prove their worth.
