Canada’s Weekend Getaways

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

On top of the list of weekend getaways should be Niagara Falls, located only 130 km’s from downtown Toronto, making it perfect for a weekend getaway without the major expense of flying.    There is plenty of sightseeing to be had in the Niagara Falls with the Falls themselves plus the many attractions in the area.     From the elegant span of the Rainbow Bridge there are panoramic views over the falls.  The bridge itself crosses the gorge between Canada and the United States.   Here, on sunny days, rainbows rise through the spray from the falls.    Check out the Niagara Falls Museum which houses a collection of artefact and photographs that record the attempts of the adventurous individuals to ride the falls.   Some of the crazy attempts were made in a kayak, a barrel, and a diving bell.    On Clifton Hill this street boasts a range of attractions.  My favourite was the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum featuring a dog with human teeth as just one of its offerings.    Another attraction to take in would be the Maid of the Mist boat trip.  This intrepid vessel gets very close to the foot of the falls.   Raincoats are supplied as passengers can expect to get wet on this thrilling trip.  You’ll find many Cheap Niagara Falls Hotels on the edge of the tourist area of Niagara Falls.

If your located in Edmonton and your done work for the week and looking for a weekend getaway head south to Calgary.   We have plenty of Cheap Edmonton Hotels to check out before catching your flight the next morning.    Once in Calgary visit the Fort Calgary which was built by the North West Mounted Police in 1875 along the banks of the Bow River.  The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, arrived in 1883, and the tiny fort town grew to over 400 residences in a year.   In 1886, a fire destroyed several of the settlement’s key buildings and a new town was built out of the more fire-resistance sandstone.  In 1911 the land was bought by the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway and the fort was levelled.  Pieces of the fort were discovered during an archaeological dig in 1970, and the well-resorted site was opened to the public in 1978.

Today, the reconstructed fort offers an interpretive center, which houses a re-created quartermaster’s store and carpenter’s workshop.  There are also delightful walks along the river.  Costumed guides participate in dramatic re-enactments such as an exciting jailbreak.    Cheap Calgary Hotels has a guide of some of the best rates online with no booking fees.

Getting Prepared For a Camping and Hiking Trip

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Camping andHiking trip is one outdoor activity to spend with your loved ones like family, friends, relatives and loads more.  We all know that looking for a perfect camping and hiking location is very important in order to enjoy one of the most memorable memories in life.  It’s a great and wonderful experience that camping and hiking brings simply because it makes our body fit and boost our immune system against certain ailments.  Being prepared for any trip of camping and hiking should takes place which means having the perfect and right gear by starting up a list of check of what necessary things you would bring.  It doesn’t matter if your consider to hike for a day or camping for weekend, the gear is perfectly up the same.

The first thing to consider is to have comfortable, convenient and good back pack.   Leaving out worries and stress in term of job is very important to enjoy your outdoor activity and feel free against problems and you are ready to face the beauty of nature.  You must bring multi-tool in your back pack like knife, pliers, screwdrivers, compass, flashlight, blanket, magnesium fire starter and first aid kit.  And also don’t forget to bring Binoculars that are not too heavy and expensive as well.  It’s fine to have a small pair of this with a measure of 7X35 or 8X40.  A disposable camera suits nicely in the pack in order to capture the memories shared together.  Therefore, I do prefer you to have Trail Running Shoes for your feet safety puposes in camping and hiking activity.
